Authentic Madagascar Tours is committed to minimizing the ecological footprint of its activities. This includes reducing paper consumption, optimizing transport itineraries, promoting eco-driving among drivers, encouraging waste reduction and sorting in the office, and supporting reforestation initiatives.
We respect and promote Malagasy cultural heritage and traditions. Our guides and staff are trained to sensitize travelers to respect local customs, appropriate dress codes, and responsible behavior in natural and cultural sites. We support equal opportunities, fair working conditions, and encourage partnerships with local communities and associations.
We prioritize local procurement and services in order to generate direct economic benefits for Malagasy communities. This includes working with locally owned accommodations, transport providers, artisans, and cooperatives. Each client hosted contributes to the local economy and, through our programs, indirectly supports local development.
We ensure safe and decent working conditions for our staff, guides, and partners. This includes first-aid availability during tours, regular safety training, insurance coverage, and a working environment that respects health and well-being. Employees are encouraged to report risks and participate in continuous improvement of workplace safety.
Our Sustainability Policy is supported by top management and monitored by the CSR Coordinator. Progress is reviewed quarterly, using measurable indicators defined in the Sustainability Action Plan. Results are shared with staff through internal communications and with partners through our website and official reports. This ensures transparency and continuous improvement in line with Travelife standards.
In March 2026, our company has achieved Travelife Partner recognition.
Travelife Partner is the entry recognition level within the international Travelife sustainability program for tour operators and travel agents. This recognition confirms our commitment to further improving the sustainability of our business operations through a structured sustainability management system and the implementation of recognized sustainability practices.
Travelife Partner recognition is awarded following an independent assessment based on the Travelife Partner criteria. During this assessment, our sustainability policy, objectives, management system, implementation of key sustainability practices and supporting documentation are evaluated against 60 mandatory sustainability criteria.
To maintain this recognition, our company is independently reassessed every two years to verify that we continue to comply with the Travelife Partner criteria.
Travelife Partner also provides the basis for progressing to the highest recognition level: Travelife Certified. This recognition is awarded following a comprehensive independent on-site audit based on the Travelife Certified criteria. This standard comprises more than 200 mandatory sustainability criteria and verifies the implementation of sustainability management and sustainability practices throughout the entire organization.
More information about the Travelife programme, the different recognition levels, the validity of our current Travelife Partner recognition and the Travelife criteria can be found on the Travelife information website for travelers: travelife.info/travelers
